Left for Dubai on a high!
Friday 6 Feb
After some coffee, breakfast and a flight to Mumbai we arrive only to find that our luggage didn’t come with us. Apparently it should be with us in the morning. Let’s see..
Saturday
..Nope! No luggage. But a great time experiencing the first day of the Khala Ghoda festival and rehearsing with Sunita Bhuyan for a gig at the Blue FROG tomorrow night.
Sunday 8 Feb
A brilliant gig at the Blue Frog with Sunita Bhuyan and a fusion of Indian and Scottish music. The highlight was Diljeet singing for Scotland with a beautiful rendition of Banks and Braes! There’ll be no more shying away from performing in front of people after that!
Monday 9 Feb
Our first visit to the ADAPT centre in Bandra. It’s amazing to be on the other side of the world and find an organisation that so much reflects our own values of inclusion and equality. This summarises the many wonderful conversations that were had today.
Tuesday 10 Feb
A very energetic first day of workshops at the ADAPT centre in Bandra!
Wednesday 11 Feb
After another fantastic day of workshops at ADAPT’s centre in Colaba we were shown the sights from the top of the World Trade Centre.
Thursday 12 Feb
A great workshop with adults at ADAPT’s Skills and Development Centre in Chembur.
Friday 13 Feb
After being joined by our Board Member Colin, we had a lovely night of singing and games with students studying on the Community Inclusion Initiatives course run by ADAPT.
Saturday 14 Feb
A great workshop at Chembura practicing for the performance on Tuesday.
Sunday 15 Feb
A day of leisure and a visit to the Bombay Gymkhana for tea and cake with Mithu Alur, founder of ADAPT.
Monday 16 Feb
Playing with the Skoog at the last rehearsals before tomorrow’s performance!
Tuesday 17 Feb
Our final day in Mumbai ended with a wonderful concert with people from all 3 ADAPT centres – Bandra, Colaba and Chembur – and Sunita Bhuyan.
Wednesday 18 Feb
Back safe, sound, and sleepy at Glasgow Airport – luggage intact!
